Reflection about Misconceptions of Adab Towards Neighbours

Assalamualaikum and Hi everyone!😊

My name is Wan Syazana Izzati Binti Wan Isham and my matric number is 2115086.The purpose I'm creating this blog is to fulfil my final assignment for Usrah 1 CCUB 1061 course .I hope you guys enjoy reading my blog.

In this blog entry, I would like to share my reflection regarding "The Misconceptions of Adab Towards Neighbours".

Have you ever wondered what are the impacts if we tend to ignore people around us especially our neighbours? Nowadays, people are too busy with their work until they forgot about Neighbours Rights. Many Muslims know the importance of respecting and caring towards family members, but too many fail to fulfill their duty to their neighbours and deprived in the community. In my group assignment, we have highlited 3 issues regarding the misconceptions of  adab towards neighbours that people like to do in daily lives.

The first misconception is Ignoring neighbours when they ask for help. We should take care of the community as a whole. The recent flash floods that hit Selangor and Pahang took Malaysians by surprised. Malaysian volunteers out in force to aid flood victims and unite together helping those who were affected by the flood. It is an amazing things to see people work together helping each other and give cooperation. When a community is in need, danger or illness, it is our duty as a Muslim to reach out and offer them help. A hadith narrated by Anas (RA) he heard Prophet Muhammad saying that "By Him whose hand is my soul, no man truly believes until he loves his, or his brother-what he loves for himself" (Muslims;45,72) From this hadiththose who fulfill the rights and duty of neighbours are being blessed by Allah mercy.

Next, the second misconceptions is Ignoring neighbours when passing on sidewalk. A bad neighbour  will acknowledge their neighbours when passing by the side road. As a Muslims,we should give salam to one another. A simple greeting  but one of the most rewarding deeds that a Muslim can do. When you give salam to your fellow Muslims you spread love and brotherhood. It is also a duty upon Muslims when we give salam we must return the salam back. A Quranic verse states that "Serve God and not join any partners with Him; and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer and what your right hands possess.(An-Nissa 4:36) From this, we are encourage to give salam to our Muslim brother or sisters whether you know them or not.

Another misconceptions is about the bad action leaving rubbish outside neighbour's house. Nowadays, many homes have shared spaces or their house are very close to their neighbours and we often heard complaints about people who leave their rubbish outside neighbour's house.A good neighbour must respect their neighbour's right and should not burden them. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: The one who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt his neighbour and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should serve his guest generously and whoever believes in Allah and Last Day, should speak what is good or keep silent" (Sahih Bukhari)  From this hadith, we must treat one's neighbour with respect.

Overall, CCUB 1061 course plays an important role in enhancing my understanding on how to become a better Muslims. I hope by doing this topic people will be more aware with their neighbours rights and they will practice consistently on how to be a good neighbour in daily lives.💗
